While my parents taught me the importance of faith, I was almost 21 years old before I heeded their advice to “Take time to listen to Him.”  Their note was written to me in a Bible that I opened while at Purdue University.

After graduation with a degree in Building Construction Management, I began a number of years discerning God’s will for me.  Some would say that it was the road less traveled, but in hindsight I can see God’s hand in all of my years of wandering.  From the bricks and mortar of job sites, I discovered that God was calling me as Jesus had called fishermen years ago, and I was ordained a priest on June 12, 2010.

After four years of serving as an Associate Pastor at two separate parishes in Hamilton County, and a year as Administrator of St. Charles Borromeo, I was assigned Pastor of our parish in July 2015.

Most of my free time is spent running, biking, and visiting with family and friends.  Peru has quickly become a home for me, and it is an honor to serve the parishioners of St. Charles, as well as individuals in the Circus Capital of the World!

My favorite verse is Mary’s advice to Do whatever he tells you (John 2:5).

I was born in cold Minneapolis Minnesota in January of 1943. My father was an automotive parts salesman which meant we moved all the time. My mother was a homemaker who cared for me and my sister and brother. In 1961 I enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a Chinese linguist in the Security Service, serving most of my time in Japan, and flying in Southeast Asia where I was awarded the Air Medal.

On October 29, 1983, I was ordained a deacon by Bishop Joseph Imesch of the Joliet Diocese in Illinois. Since my ordination I have served in five different dioceses and six parishes. Along with my wife of 41 years, Yvonne, a major focus of ministry has been marriage preparation, marriage enrichment and marriage tribunal. Ministry to Native Americans is also close to my heart, especially in South Dakota on the Rosebud Indian Reservation and in Chamberlain. I have spent many years working with those suffering from an alcohol or drug addiction and/or finding themselves in youth detention or prison.

One part of my ministry which I find particularly satisfying is my sacramental ministry. Being there and representing the Church when someone is baptized, and blessing the love of a couple as they join their lives in marriage, impacts me deeply.

Since my ordination the Lord has blessed me, Yvonne, and our three children, with a life that is varied, interesting and fulfilling, well beyond what we could have ever dreamed of, and He continues to amaze us.

We have had the extreme privilege of ministering to the people of St. Charles Borromeo parish in Peru since 2003. Yvonne and I both love it here — especially the people. We are looking forward to spending our retirement years as part of St. Charles’ parish family.  CLICK HERE to email me

An Illinois native, but have been blessed to live in various places around the country, I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and am currently attending the University of Notre Dame for a degree in Theology.  I’m a convert to the faith; I came around my junior year of college and have been in love with the faith ever since.  Serving as a missionary after college for two years, one with NET Ministries and another with the Roman Huskie Mission Team, has cultivated within me a desire to serve the Church wherever the Lord calls me.  One of my favorite quotes is from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI – “The world offers you comfort, but you were not made for comfort, you were made for greatness” – I truly believe in the greatness we are made for and strive to live that daily while encouraging and helping others along the way.

I was born in Texas, raised in Oklahoma as Methodist and found my way home to the Catholic Church in 2003.  My husband, Jeep, was raised right here in Peru and attended the St. Charles school until 8th grade.  He has many a nun story to tell.  We both share our lives with our wonderful daughter Andrea.  I see my role at St. Charles as one of helping whoever walks through my office door.  May God bless.
